CBA WINTER COMPETITION

Each winter season, NCBA enters teams into the Canterbury Basketball Club Competition under the “NC” Banner. 

This competition is a great step up from our 4D Freight FNBB competition for kids to continue their development. In alignment with our development philosophy, we aim to provide the opportunity for everyone to play who wants to. ​​​​​​​

​​​​​​​The 2026 season runs from approximately the end of April to the end of August, with games played throughout Christchurch on Saturday and Sundays against clubs from the region. Additionally, teams train 1x per week. 

NB - Please note that teams are required to do Bench duty either before or after their game with the exception of the U13 grades  who  have parents or supporters do their own bench.

Grades that will be offered in 2026 by NCBA will be updated below alongside their trial information for 2026.

(Registration may incur the once a year BBNZ levy and NCBA Membership fee payment.)

Boys & Girls U13 - born 2013, 2014, 2015
Boys U15 - born 2011, 2012
Girls  U16 - born 2010, 2011, 2012

MALE GRADES 2026

U13 BOYS

  • Games are played on Saturdays afternoons. Players can often play another winter code alongside this.
     Teams will do their own bench duty during the season. 
  • Trials for teams are held at Mainpower Stadium (May require a second trial depending on numbers)
  • Monday 23rd March : 4 - 5.30pm

    U15 BOYS

    • Games are played on Saturday afternoons, players can often play another winter code alongside this. 
    • Trial for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • Tuesday 24th March : 4.30 - 6pm  

    U17 BOYS

    • Games are played on Saturday Mornings 
    • Trial for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • Tuesday 24th March : 4.30 - 6pm  

    U20 MEN

    • Games are played on Saturday afternoons
    • Trial for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • TBC

    U23 MEN  

    • Games are played on Saturday mornings
    • Trial for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • TBC

    WOMENS GRADES 2026

    CBA has restructured the womens grades to better align with the age and stage requirements of the community. A key point in this change, is only 2 girls per team are allowed to play up a grade, this is change from previous where girls have often played 1 or 2 grades above their age. 

    U13 GIRLS

    • Games to be played on Saturday 
      Teams will do their own bench duty during the season
    • Trials for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • Monday 23rd March : 4 - 5.30pm

    U16 GIRLS

    • Games to be played on Saturday 
    • Trials for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • Tuesday 24th March : 6 - 7.00 pm

    FRENCH CUP (U17 - 23)

    • Games are played on a...TBC

    ADULT CLUB BASKETBALL

    DIVISION 1 MEN AND WOMEN

    • Games are played on Sundays, and is targeted towards adults who still want to play competitive basketball, but cant committ or the body doesnt hold up to premier basketball. 
    • No trials for these teams, but please contact us if you are interested in playing. 

    PREMIER WOMEN AND MEN

    • Both teams play on Saturdays, and are known as the Wildcats and Tarheels. These are the top 2 teams to play for in North Cantebury.
