The Heart of Basketball in the Waimakariri and Hurunui Districts.
"Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini"
Success is not the work of an individual, but the work of many.
You don't have to spend much time at an NC Basketball event to run into one of the 3 Cutbush kids.
Ruby, once the biggest fan of her 2 older brothers courtside, has now ventured on to the court herself. Ruby is about to suit up in NC colors in our u13 3X3 team, and represent her St Joseph's team during the McDonalds Friday Night Competition.
Ruby loves the #NCFamily because she loves how fun and challenging it is and that there are such amazing people at North Canterbury. She thinks NC has made her progress in skills shooting and she has made the best friends with NC. She may be small but she’s a little pocket rocket!
Troy, the middle sibling, has progressed through our FNBB, SIPT, Hoops, and Stars programs and is now playing High School Basketball at St Bede’s, and partaking in the Waitaha Performance Program
Troy has played basketball for 5 years because he loves competition and loves the physical nature of it. He would love to represent Waitaha but the main reason why he plays is so he can be as good as his older brother.
Speaking of...Hunter, the oldest has also been heavily involved as a player, but now is progressing into the refereeing and coaching ranks, where he has attended the u15 Nationals as a referee and is coached one of our boys u13 sides at the recent Future Development Tournament.
Hunter started getting into coaching and refereeing because when he was younger reffing was a good way to earn money! From then on he started coaching which he grew to love. He has met so many different people, made great friends, built up his own confidence, and gets to see others progress by coaching, refereeing, and playing.
We can't forget Jane, who is often doubling up as a taxi driver, team manager, and biggest supporter of her kids.
Next time your courtside, make sure you keep an eye out to see what Cutbush kid is involved!
