Nationals 2022

For the first time in NCBA history, we have 6 teams participating in the Basketball New Zealand National Championships. We are going to see Boys and Girls teams on the court at U15, U17 & U19 Nationals in 2022.

NCBA is also making history as hosts as we are hosting U19 Nationals in Rangiora for the first time in 2022.

We will update this page throughout the year with updates on all the National Tournaments and the team's results.

U15 Nationals - Auckland - July 20-23

Aon U15 Nationals has wrapped up for 2022.

The boys started things off for NC this morning with their 11th &12th play-off game against Hutt Valley. They put up a hell of a fight in the 4th but couldn’t pull it back against a physical Hutt Valley side, NC going down 72-83. Our girls played their play-off game vs Auckland and put on a show! A great team effort saw the girls take the win 55-31.

A massive thanks to Nathan Hyde, Harry Skirrow, Jazmine Hazeldine, Matt Newton, Gordon Wong, Holly Parish, Chantal Woodham, & Callum Bryan for all the effort you put into helping these teams perform as well as they did.

Thank you to our amazing sponsors 4D Freight, Hazeldine Construction, and WD Build for your support of our teams and representative program.

Final Placings:

NCBA U15 Boys Final Placing = 12th (3-4)

NCBA U15 Girls Final Placing = 15th (2-5)

U17 Nationals - Hamilton - July 13-16

2022 Aon U17 Nationals has come to an end for the NCBA teams.

The boys started things off this morning with their final game against Southland. They put up a hell of a fight but couldn’t pull it back against the hot-shooting Southlanders, NC going down 107-80.

After a tough Semi-final last night the girls faced Harbour A in the 3rd & 4th playoff. Our girls left their hearts out on the court and fought all the way to the final buzzer, bringing it back to a 4pt game in the 4th quarter. Harbour eventually pulled away to take the win 62-50, meaning the girls finished 4th, an outstanding performance from them!

Congratulations to Aliyah Newton and Emma Loffhagen for their selection into the Aon U17 Nationals Tournament Team!

A huge thank you to Sam Watkins, Connie Taylor, Nicky Simpson, Blair Terrell, Matt Cunninghame, Brenda Martin, & Callum Bryan for all your efforts during the tournament. Another thank you to our amazing sponsors Loffhagen Landscapes and TDM Electrical for your support of our teams and representative program.

U19 Nationals - Rangiora - June 3-7

2022 was the first time NCBA had ever had Men & Women representing at U19 Nationals. We were so grateful to be able to have this opportunity to play at Nationals on home soil. Both teams played their hearts out and represented NC with pride. A huge thank you to all the spectators that came down to offer support to our teams.

Another big thank you to our U19s coaches Millie Knight, Cam Wilson, & Ben Hall, and managers Kirstie Pritchard & Pauline Newport-Cromarty. All the work you put in behind the scenes to help our teams perform at their best was outstanding.

The final day saw the Waikato Women and the Canterbury Men take out their respective competitions.

As first-time hosts, we put on a show and would just like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all our volunteers, purple shirts, those on bench duty, floor wipers, floor controllers, commentators, the list goes on. Without you, none of this would have been possible.
